Last year was an extremely difficult year for refugee and asylum-seeking women. From the former Government’s cruel Rwanda plan passing in April to the racist and Islamophobic far-right riots in August.

Despite the change in Government, there’s still a long way to go to overhaul the cruel-by-design asylum system.

But throughout the cruelty, alongside hundreds of you, we have come together time and time again in solidarity, compassion, and community.

From performing original poetry at public events, meeting with parliamentarians, celebrating together at our annual parties, and building solidarity together – refugee women in our network met the hostility and cruelty of the asylum system with resistance, joy, and sisterhood. This year, we will continue to fight for a compassionate asylum system and support refugee women to rebuild their lives, on their own terms.
