📢 BREAKING: What we know from Suella Braverman’s speech this afternoon. ⁣ ⁣ Her speech seeks to whip up hatred, division and fear. ⁣ ⁣ But we are better than this. We know that most people choose compassion and kindness.⁣ ⁣ That we offer our hand to those in need of protection and welcome them into our communities. ⁣ ⁣ REFUGEES WELCOME, ALWAYS ❤️
🚨 BREAKING: ⁣ ⁣ In a speech later this afte 🚨 BREAKING: ⁣ ⁣ In a speech later this afternoon, it is expected that Suella Braverman will claim that ‘simply being gay, or a woman, and fearful of discrimination in your country of origin’ is not sufficient to qualify someone for protection. ⁣ ⁣ This is absurd.⁣ ⁣ Women and members of the LGBTQ+ community face specific and particular harms based on their gender and/or sexuality. ⁣ ⁣ The majority of women we support have survived extreme harm, including gender-based and sexual violence, forced prostitution, torture, and trafficking. ⁣ ⁣ We’ll be following her speech later closely. ⁣

🚨BREAKING:⁣ ⁣ Today the first public inquir 🚨BREAKING:⁣ ⁣ Today the first public inquiry into immigration detention has been released.⁣ ⁣ The inquiry exposes mistreatment, abusive practices and the extreme harm detention causes to already vulnerable individuals.⁣ ⁣ Alarming evidence was exposed including: ⁣ ⁣ ❌Routine misuse of force;⁣ ❌Normalisation of the infliction of pain, suffering, and humiliation of individuals;⁣ ❌Pervasive derogatory and violent verbal abuse;⁣ ❌Racism.⁣ ⁣ People seeking safety in the UK should be in our communities with their loved ones, not locked up in detention.⁣ ⁣ For as long as detention exists, and private companies profit from the pain of individuals who are detained, vulnerable individuals will be harmed.⁣ ⁣ We call for:⁣ ✅ An end to immigration detention NOW.⁣ ✅ An asylum system based on compassion.
