A compilation of some of the creations made by the women in our network this year.
Our empowerment activities are a safe space for refugee and asylum-seeking women to make friends and form a community. The activities are creative and educational, providing a therapeutic space for the women in our network to express themselves, heal and learn new skills.
Last week, as part of our summer party celebrations we held a mini-exhibition of some of beautiful work created in our activities this past year; Radical Knitting, Radical Stitching, Arts and Crafts and Rainbow Sisters.
Radical Knitting
“First, I met new friends. I relearnt how to knit again. I made something I’m happy with. I forget my stress when I knit.”
Radical Stitching
“The project has given me confidence in sewing. I have learnt a lot of what I have never done before. I’m empowered…”
Arts and Crafts
“The most useful thing I learnt in the class is about my creative painting side and also confidence.”
Rainbow Sisters*
*Our welcoming support group for LGBTQ+ women and non-binary people seeking safety.
“The Rainbow Sisters are my family. We’re all so different, but we all help each other. It is solidarity in action. It is happiness.”
