Principles for good asylum accommodation

Too often, asylum accommodation is inadequate, poor quality, or even dangerous.

Our research, Coercion and Control,  found that women seeking safety in the UK have experienced harassment, coercive practices, and even abuse in asylum accommodation.

Everyone needs somewhere safe to call home.

That’s why refugee women in our network have co-created their vision of what good asylum accommodation would look like. Because change can and should happen.

Our principles are based around: Safety, Dignity, Stability, and Agency.

“Home is feeling safe, feeling at peace, feeling loved”
