International Women’s Day (8th March) is a day to recognise women’s achievements, raise awareness of their challenges, and advocate for gender equality.

With IWD 2025 just around the corner, here are five ways you can stand in solidarity with refugee women:

1. Sip a limited edition beer, Every Woman Welcome, and hear original poetry performances from our Drama group⁣

To mark International Women’s Day 2025, Five Points Brewery have brewed a limited edition beer, Every Woman Welcome, to raise awareness of and to support our work.

The beer will launch at Five Points Taproom in Hackney, London on Thursday 6th March. Doors will open from 5pm with original poetry performances from members of our Drama group starting at 7pm. We hope to see you there!

Find out more about Five Points Brewery and the beer here.

2. Listen to experts, campaigners and activists on how we can end immigration detention⁣

Our Spokesperson Facilitator, Agnes Tanoh, joins our friends at Rene Cassin, Freedom from Torture and Jesuit Refugee Service (JRS) for a lively panel discussion on the immigration detention of women, and what we can all do to end it.

3. Donate to support our sisterhood and make a real difference to refugee women’s lives⁣

Our work wouldn’t be possible without the generosity and compassion of our supporters like you.

A really impactful way to make a difference this IWD is to make a donation to support our work.

Your donation could make a real difference to women like Ada who shared:

“I didn’t know what to expect before coming here. I found a safe, welcoming and supportive space. I found people who value me, believe in me, and encourage me. I found like-minded people, friends, family, sisters.”

4. Write to your MP to urge them to sign our open letter to the Home Secretary on the harms of immigration detention⁣

Women seeking safety in the UK can be locked up for weeks and months on end, with no idea of when they will be released. Locking up women who have already survived so much inflicts immense harm and retraumatises them.

We believe this can be changed.

Join us and write to your MP asking them to sign our letter to the Home Secretary.

Use our quick and easy tool and make a real difference!
