Our strategy 2022 - 2025
Our strategy for 2022-2025 sets out our plan to work alongside women who have sought asylum to support them as they rebuild their lives on their own terms, and to influence the public and policy makers to bring about the change that is needed to create a compassionate and fair asylum process in the UK.
Our vision
A world where women no longer need to seek asylum because they are safe from persecution and have equal power and access to opportunities.
We know that this is going to take a lot of work to achieve, so we’re launching a new strategy from 2022 – 2025 to create a more compassionate world for women seeking safety – and we want you to be part of it.
Our values
Equality, diversity and inclusion
We are inclusive of and stand with all women regardless of race, class, sexuality, gender identity and expression, faith, national origin, language, education, age and disability. We are always mindful of privilege and imbalances of power, and seek to treat everyone fairly and equally.
Collaboration
We are stronger when we work together: we listen, we learn, we share and we support one another.
Transparency
We are open and accountable in our decision-making.
Courage and authenticity
We are brave and bold in how we challenge injustice. We will keep the women with whom we work, and these values, at the heart of all we do.
Kindness and compassion
We treat everyone with dignity, kindness and compassion. We value and nurture the contributions of all those we work alongside. We are respectful, supportive and caring.
Creativity, learning and reflection
We are open to different ideas and skills and celebrate that there may be many ways to achieve change. We have a culture of continuous learning and embrace reflection.
Women for Refugee Women works to support women seeking safety in the UK to build their confidence and skills and to challenge the injustices they face in the asylum process. During our 15-year history we have grown into a strong and dynamic organisation working alongside women who have sought asylum, building collaborations across the migration and women’s sectors, and playing a leading role in advocating for a humane and just asylum process.
Through this new strategy we aim to build on our achievements and learning in order to address the challenges facing women who are seeking asylum in the UK. We are continuing and strengthening our commitment to ensuring that refugee and asylum-seeking women are at the heart of everything we do and seek to achieve as an organisation.
As we start this next phase of our journey, there will be opportunities for us to build upon, including working with networks of refugee and asylum-seeking women and collaborating with other organisations and our growing base of supporters. By working together, we hope to build a just asylum process for women.
We thank all of our supporters, friends and partners for being with us and assisting our work. We look forward to working with you over the lifetime of our new strategy to create the changes in society that women seeking asylum would like to see.
