Fundraise

There are lots of ways that you can get involved and fundraise for Women for Refugee Women. Supporters have organized all sorts of benefit nights, from stand-up comedy to debates, from dinners to gigs.

Here is one simple and effective new idea for a fundraising evening among your friends:

Host a movie night in

You can raise money for Women Asylum Seekers Together (WAST) London by inviting your friends, family and colleagues over to watch the film ‘How I Became an Asylum Seeker’, written and performed by WAST Manchester.

It couldn’t be easier to host a movie night:

1) Just email us on This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.   and we’ll send you the DVD, plus invitations.

2) Then it’s over to you to host the movie night; ask your friends to come and watch the film with you – for a donation

3) Why not make some world food snacks to give to your audience to enjoy during the film?

4) Send us a group photo from your night and we can upload it onto our website to champion the amazing fundraising you’ve done!

You can either send the donations by cheque or by secure online transfer – whichever’s easiest for you.

:

I admire the work carried out by Women for Refugee Women. By telling the true stories of women and children in the asylum process they woke a lot of people up to the scandal of child detention.

Michael Morpurgo, author of War Horse

:

I have been delighted to support Women for Refugee Women since its launch- I've been truly inspired by the great work this organisation does, enabling women who seek asylum to speak out - whether at the grassroots or to government ministers.

Oona King

:

Many refugees and asylum seekers have fled their home countries because of human rights abuses. The work of agencies like Women for Refugee Women is vital for helping people rebuild their lives and have a voice.

Trevor Phillips OBE, chair of the Equality and Human Rights Commission

:

Put the word refugee in front of woman and immediately prejudice and projection arise. Meet a refugee woman, hear her struggles – and her joys – and you encounter a person, like you and me, who has been more than unlucky....
